Detangling Tips.

Detangling is always lots of fun right ? Not!

My detangling techniques come with the situation at hand. Am I detangling because of wash day? Am I detangling Everyday? When is the best time detangle? Wet or dry? How Do I detangle?

Natural Hair Detangling Tip Number one:

1. Try to detangle while wet and not so often.

I usually detangle my hair on wash day. Sunday is my wash day. I do not have work . I am relaxed and ready for the take on. I am at home with my kids. And I have a piece of mind and no rushing. I detangle when I'm in the shower on wash day. The first step I part my hair into four small sections while wet. I use a brush similar to the denman type brush and run through  the strands starting from the ends. After my ends are done I go to my roots. After I am fully detangled I am ready for my hair to be washed and detangled.

2. Try to do low manipulation style so you only have to detangle one a week.

I do lots of twist, braids sand bantu knot outs. I love using roller sets and coiling my hair. How I tend to do my weekly routine is I do this on Sunday after a good wash and detangle. Then I style with my camilla rose twisting butter product. I oil my scalp and then put on a satin bonnet. My first two days I wear my hair controlled in a un spread braid out for a couple days so my style last all week. After a couple of days I spreads my curls and then I fluff the roots of my natural hair with my wide tooth comb. Then I shake my hair and twirl my fingers a bit for a fuller curly afro look. And I am to preserve my hair through out my week with just daily oil add in for moisture.

3. Detangle in sections. Stay organized.

4. Finger Detangle if possible.

This method prevents rough scalp pulling and prevents shedding to preserve the thickness of your hair.

If you do not go by your hair texture and read the correct labels on containers before your purchase then the style you want will not come out right. Learn as much as you can about your hair texture.

Today I'm struggling with knowing how to care for natural hair in all aspects. Being raised African American but of biracial decent is so hard to pull through. Being told the only reason I have long, healthy hair only because I am mixed takes a toll. It is unreal how people are when it comes to natural hair care. All the studying I am doing on hair proves otherwise. Even African people saying thier hair cannot grow as fast or long or it is too nappy. There is no such thing as bad hair. Some of the most beautiful women with natural are full blooded African. The singer Angie Stone for example she is full blood of African descent and her hair is so beautiful and rich. It doesn't matter about being mixed. It's your hair follicle levels and how you take care of it to enhance you hair health and growth. Every day I am fighting for this change in our minds and souls. All natural hair grows and it doesn't matter if your mixed , or dark skinned. We are all one. Beautiful black w...
